เมื่อวันที่ ๔ มิถุนายน ๒๕๖๔ นายจูเวา บือร์นาร์ดู ดือ โอลีเวย์รา มาร์ตินช์ ไวน์ชไตน์  เอกอัครราชทูตสาธารณรัฐโปรตุเกสประจำประเทศไทย ได้เข้าเยี่ยมคารวะนางจุฬามณี ชาติสุวรรณ อธิบดีกรมยุโรป ในโอกาสที่เอกอัครราชทูตฯ เข้ารับหน้าที่ 

ทั้งสองฝ่ายย้ำถึงความมุ่งมั่นในการส่งเสริมความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างไทยและโปรตุเกส และสนับสนุนให้เกิดความร่วมมือระหว่างกัน โดยเฉพาะด้านสาธารณสุข เพื่อแลกเปลี่ยนความรู้และประสบการณ์ด้านการฟื้นฟูสมรรถภาพผู้ติดยาเสพติด และนโยบายและวิธีการควบคุมยาเสพติด
ด้านการศึกษา โดยฝ่ายโปรตุเกสได้เชิญชวนให้นักวิจัยไทยที่สนใจจะศึกษาหรือวิจัยเกี่ยวกับประวัติศาสตร์ไทยมาดำเนินการวิจัยที่โปรตุเกส เนื่องจากโปรตุเกสมีเอกสารสำคัญเกี่ยวกับประวัติศาสตร์ไทย โดยเฉพาะในช่วงสมัยอยุธยา และด้านการท่องเที่ยว โดยฝ่ายโปรตุเกสได้เชิญชวนให้นักศึกษาไทยที่สนใจไปศึกษาหลักสูตรอุตสาหกรรมบริการและการท่องเที่ยวที่โปรตุเกส

นอกจากนี้ ทั้งสองฝ่ายได้แลกเปลี่ยนข้อคิดเห็นเกี่ยวกับพัฒนาการสำคัญในภูมิภาค และ      เห็นพ้องที่จะเร่งรัดกระบวนการจัดทำร่างบันทึกความเข้าใจด้านเทคโนโลยีดิจิทัล ทั้งนี้ ฝ่ายไทยย้ำถึงความพร้อมที่จะเป็นเจ้าภาพจัดการประชุม Political Dialogue ไทย-โปรตุเกส ครั้งที่ 3 ในต้นปีหน้า

Ambassador of the Portuguese Republic to the Kingdom of Thailand

On 4 June 2021, H.E. Mr. João-Bernardo de Oliveira Martins Weinstein, Ambassador of the Portuguese Republic to the Kingdom of Thailand paid a courtesy call on Mrs. Chulamanee Chartsuwan, Director-General of the Department of European Affairs, on the occasion of the former’s assumption of duty.

Both sides discussed ways to further enhance bilateral relations and reinforce practical cooperation in various areas, including health, in particular cooperation on drug rehabilitation and drug control policies. Both sides also welcomed the proposal for greater exchange of Thai and Portuguese researchers since Portugal has an extensive historical archive about Thailand. On tourism, both sides further agreed on the exchange of students in the area of hospitality and tourism.

Moreover, both sides also exchanged views on important developments in the region as well as reaffirmed its commitment to expediting the negotiations of the Memorandum of Understanding on Digital Technology. The Thai side also expressed its readiness to host the 3^rd Thai-Portuguese Political Dialogue next year.
