เมื่อวันที่ 25 เมษายน 2568 นางสาวสมฤดี พู่พรอเนก รองอธิบดีกรมยุโรป ได้พบหารือกับคณะผู้แทนโครงการ Enhancing Security Cooperation in and with Asia (ESIWA) ซึ่งนำโดยนาย Pierre Mayaudon ผู้อำนวยการร่วมโครงการ ESIWA+ และนาย Yannick Ragonneau ผู้เชี่ยวชาญด้านความมั่นคงทางไซเบอร์ โดยมีรองหัวหน้าสำนักงาน และเจ้าหน้าที่คณะผู้แทนสหภาพยุโรปประจำประเทศไทย ผู้อำนวยการกองสหภาพยุโรป หัวหน้ากลุ่มงานความมั่นคงระหว่างประเทศ และเจ้าหน้าที่กรมยุโรป เข้าร่วมด้วยที่ประชุมได้หารือเกี่ยวกับแนวทางการส่งเสริมความร่วมมือด้านความมั่นคงระหว่างไทยและสหภาพยุโรปภายใต้โครงการ ESIWA ในระยะที่สอง (ESIWA+) อย่างเป็นรูปธรรม โดยในแผนระยะสั้น ทั้งสองฝ่ายได้เห็นพ้องที่จะดำเนินโครงการที่เกี่ยวข้องกับความมั่นคงทางไซเบอร์ในบริบทของความมั่นคงทางทะเล และการต่อต้านอาชญากรรมทางไซเบอร์ โดยเฉพาะการปราบปรามการหลอกลวงทางออนไลน์ซึ่งเป็นภัยคุกคามร้ายแรงและเร่งด่วนความร่วมมือภายใต้โครงการ ESIWA ครอบคลุม 4 ด้าน ได้แก่ ความมั่นคงทางทะเล ความมั่นคงทางไซเบอร์ การบริหารจัดการวิกฤต และการต่อต้านการก่อการร้ายและความรุนแรงสุดโต่ง ซึ่งเป็นโอกาสให้ไทยได้ส่งเสริมการพัฒนาขีดความสามารถของหน่วยงานและบุคลากร แลกเปลี่ยนองค์ความรู้ ประสบการณ์ และแนวปฏิบัติที่เป็นเลิศในด้านเหล่านี้กับฝ่ายสหภาพยุโรป

          On 25 April 2025, Ms. Somrudee Poopornanake, Deputy Director-General of the Department of European Affairs, discussed with the delegation of Enhancing Security Cooperation in and with Asia (ESIWA) project led by Mr. Pierre Mayaudon, ESIWA Co-Director, and Mr. Yannick Ragonneau, Cyber Security Thematic Coordinator. The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Head of Mission and representatives from the delegation of the European Union to Thailand,  Director of the European Union Division, Head of the International Security Unit and representatives from the European Affairs Department.

         The meeting discussed and explored opportunities for enhancing security cooperation between Thailand and the European Union (EU) through the second phase of the ESIWA project (ESIWA+) concretely. In the short-term plan, both sides agreed to conduct joint projects in the areas of cybersecurity in the maritime domain, and cybercrimes, in particular combatting online scams, which have become a global serious an urgent thereat.

          The ESIWA project is an EU security and defense project, covering four areas of cooperation, namely, (1) maritime security; (2) cyber security; (3) crisis management; and (4) counter-terrorism as well as the countering of violent extremism. The project provides opportunities for Thai agencies and personnels on capacity-building, exchange of know-how, experiences and best practices on security issues.
