เมื่อวันที่ 7 สิงหาคม 2568 นายมาริษ เสงี่ยมพงษ์ รัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงการต่างประเทศ ได้พบหารือกับนายเดวิด เดลี เอกอัครราชทูตสหภาพยุโรปประจำประเทศไทย ในโอกาสพ้นจากหน้าที่

รัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงการต่างประเทศได้แสดงความชื่นชมและขอบคุณเอกอัครราชทูตฯ ที่ได้ปฏิบัติหน้าที่ด้วยความมุ่งมั่นและมีบทบาทที่แข็งขันในการส่งเสริมความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างไทยกับสหภาพยุโรป โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่งการกลับมาเปิดการเจรจาความตกลงการค้าเสรี (FTA) ไทย-สหภาพยุโรป การมีผลใช้บังคับของความตกลงว่าด้วยความเป็นหุ้นส่วนและความร่วมมือรอบด้าน (Partnership and Cooperation Agreement: PCA) ไทย-สหภาพยุโรป ตลอดจนการจัดการประชุมคณะกรรมการร่วม (Joint Committee) ระหว่างไทย-สหภาพยุโรปเป็นครั้งแรก ซึ่งล้วนสนับสนุนให้ทั้งสองฝ่ายกลายเป็นหุ้นส่วนยุทธศาสตร์ระหว่างกัน

ในโอกาสดังกล่าว รัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงการต่างประเทศได้ชี้แจงเกี่ยวกับสถานการณ์บริเวณชายแดนไทย-กัมพูชา พร้อมทั้งชี้แจงท่าทีไทยอันนำมาสู่ข้อตกลงหยุดยิง โดยย้ำว่าไทยดำเนินการโดยยึดมั่นตามพันธกรณีระหว่างประเทศ และมีความตั้งใจที่จะแก้ไขปัญหาโดยสันติวิธีบนพื้นฐานของความสุจริตใจ ซึ่งเอกอัครราชทูตฯ ได้แสดงความเสียใจต่อการสูญเสียชีวิตพลเรือนและทรัพย์สินของฝ่ายไทย และสนับสนุนข้อตกลงหยุดยิงและแนวทางของไทยที่เน้นการหารือเพื่อยุติความขัดแย้งโดยสันติวิธี

นอกจากนี้ ทั้งสองฝ่ายได้หารือเกี่ยวกับความสัมพันธ์ทั้งในระดับทวิภาคีและภูมิภาคในด้านต่าง ๆ เช่น การค้า การลงทุน ความมั่นคง สิ่งแวดล้อม สิทธิมนุษยชน การศึกษาและความเชื่อมโยงระหว่างประชาชน เป็นต้น

Minister for Foreign Affairs met with Ambassador of the European Union to Thailand on the occasion of the completion of his tenure

On 7 August 2025, H.E. Mr. Maris Sangiampongsa, Minister for Foreign Affairs, had a farewell meeting with H.E. Mr. David Daly, Ambassador of the European Union to Thailand, on the occasion of the completion of his tenure.

The Minister expressed appreciation to the EU Ambassador for his dedication and active engagement in strengthening Thailand – EU relations, particularly the resumption of the Thailand-EU FTA negotiations, the entering into force of the Thailand-EU Partnership and Cooperation Agreement, and the first meeting of Thailand-EU Joint-Committee, all of which have significantly contributed to the strategic partnership between Thailand and the European Union.

On this occasion, the Minister clarified the situation along the Thai-Cambodian border and Thailand’s principled positions leading to the ceasefire agreement. He also reaffirmed Thailand’s commitment to international laws and to resolving the situation through peaceful means and in good faith.  The EU Ambassador offered his condolences for the loss of Thai civilians and civilian objects as well as support for ceasefire agreement and Thailand’s peaceful solution to the situation.

Moreover, both sides discussed bilateral and regional cooperation in several areas such as trade, security, environment education and people-to-people ties.
