เมื่อวันที่ 21 เมษายน 2564 นางจุฬามณี ชาติสุวรรณ อธิบดีกรมยุโรป ได้เป็นประธานการประชุมเตรียมการสำหรับการประชุม Political Consultations ไทย-อิตาลี ครั้งที่ 2 ผ่านระบบการประชุมทางไกล ระหว่างหน่วยงานไทยที่เกี่ยวข้อง โดยที่ประชุมได้หารือเกี่ยวกับแนวทางการส่งเสริมความร่วมมือที่เป็นรูปธรรมและเป็นผลประโยชน์ร่วมกันระหว่างไทยและอิตาลีในมิติต่าง ๆ อาทิ เศรษฐกิจ วัฒนธรรม การศึกษา วิทยาศาสตร์ และเทคโนโลยี รวมถึงการขับเคลื่อนนโยบายด้านเศรษฐกิจที่สำคัญของรัฐบาลไทย โดยเฉพาะโมเดลเศรษฐกิจใหม่หรือ BCG (Bio-Circular-Green Economy) กับฝ่ายอิตาลี

การประชุม Political Consultations เป็นกลไกการหารือทวิภาคีระหว่างไทยกับอิตาลีในระดับอธิบดี โดยฝ่ายอิตาลีได้เป็นเจ้าภาพจัดการประชุมครั้งแรก เมื่อวันที่ 10 พฤศจิกายน 2560 ณ กรุงโรม สาธารณรัฐอิตาลี กระทรวงการต่างประเทศมีกำหนดจัดการประชุม Political Consultations ไทย-อิตาลี ครั้งที่ 2 ในวันที่ 13 พฤษภาคม 2564 ผ่านระบบการประชุมทางไกล โดยมีอธิบดีกรมยุโรป กระทรวงการต่างประเทศ และอธิบดีฝ่ายเอเชียและโอเชียเนีย กระทรวงการต่างประเทศสาธารณรัฐอิตาลี เป็นประธานร่วม

Preparatory Meeting for the 2^nd Thai-Italian Political Consultations

On 21 April 2021 Mrs. Chulamanee Chartsuwan, Director-General of the Department of European Affairs, chaired the preparatory meeting for the 2^nd Thai-Italian Political Consultations via video conference. The meeting provided an opportunity for relevant Thai agencies to discuss ways forward to enhance and strengthen bilateral relations and concrete cooperation between Thailand and Italy in various areas such as economic, cultural, education, science and technology. In addition, the meeting also discussed ways to promote Thailand’s economic policy, in particular the Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) Economy with Italy.

The Thai-Italian Political Consultations is a platform to promote and review bilateral relations and cooperation at the Director-General level. The 1^st Thai-Italian Political Consultations was hosted by the Italian side in Rome on 10 November 2017. The Thai side plans to host the 2^nd Thai-Italian Political Consultations on 13 May 2021 via video conference. The meeting will be co-chaired by the Director-General of the Department of European Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand and the Deputy Director-General for Global Affairs and Managing Director for Asia and Oceania from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Italy.
