เมื่อวันที่ ๑๑ กันยายน ๒๕๖๖ นางสาวมารินี สุวรรณโมลี รองอธิบดีกรมยุโรป พร้อมด้วยนางสาวชวนาถ ทั่งสัมพันธ์ เอกอัครราชทูต ณ กรุงเฮลซิงกิ พร้อมด้วยผู้แทนจากมหาวิทยาลัยเทคโนโลยีพระจอมเกล้าธนบุรี (มจธ.) และสำนักงานพัฒนาวิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยี (สวทช.) ได้พบหารือกับนาย Jari Sinkari อธิบดีกรมอเมริกาและเอเชีย กระทรวงการต่างประเทศฟินแลนด์ เพื่อหารือแนวทางส่งเสริมความร่วมมือระหว่างกันโดยเฉพาะความร่วมมือด้านวิทยาศาสตร์และนวัตกรรม

ในโอกาสดังกล่าว คณะได้พบหารือกับสถาบันการศึกษา/วิจัย องค์กรส่งเสริม Startup ของฟินแลนด์ อาทิ หน่วยงาน VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, บ. Helsinki Innovation Services Ltd. (University of Helsinki), องค์กร Slush, Startup Sauna (Aalto University) และได้ศึกษาดูงานโรงไฟฟ้าจากพลังงานขยะที่ LSJH Korvenmäen Jätekeskus Waste Power Plant ทั้งสองฝ่ายเห็นพ้องที่จะริเริ่มความร่วมมือในการส่งเสริม Startup ไทยให้เข้าถึง ecosystem ในต่างประเทศ การจัดฝึกอบรมเพื่อพัฒนาบุคลากรตลอดจนศึกษาความเป็นไปได้ในการดำเนินการศึกษาวิจัยในสาขาที่มีความสนใจร่วมกัน

ความริเริ่มดังกล่าวเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของการดำเนินยุทธศาสตร์การทูตเศรษฐกิจและวิทยาศาสตร์ของกรมยุโรป
ผ่านการขยายเครือข่ายความร่วมมือกับหน่วยงานที่มีศักยภาพ โดยมุ่งเน้นการศึกษาวิจัยเพื่อสนับสนุนภาคธุรกิจและอุตสาหกรรมโดยเฉพาะการส่งเสริม Startup เพื่อเพิ่มขีดความสามารถทางเศรษฐกิจและการพัฒนาของสังคมไทย

On 11 September 2023, Ms. Marinee Suwanmoli, Deputy Director-General of the Department of European Affairs, along with H.E. Ms. Chavanart Thangsumphant, Ambassador of Thailand to Finland and representatives from King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) and National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) met with Mr. Jari Sinkari, Director General of the Department for Americas and Asia, Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland, to discuss collaboration between the two countries, especially on science and innovation.

On this occasion, the delegation also met with Finland’s leading research institutes, universities and startup associations such as VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, Helsinki Innovation Services Ltd. (University of Helsinki), Startup Sauna (Aalto University) and Slush, and conducted a site visit to LSJH Korvenmäen Jätekeskus Waste Power Plant. Both sides agreed to initiate cooperation to promote startup ecosystem, to explore the possibilities to conduct training and exchange programs for human resource development
as well as joint research on the issues of mutual interests.

This initiative is a part of Department of European Affairs’ science and economic diplomacy strategy with the goal of advancing new partnerships network among potential Thai agencies, focusing on leveraging academic research to support business sectors, particularly startups, and enhancing national economic competitiveness and social development.
