เมื่อวันที่ 22 กันยายน 2569 นายศรัณย์ เจริญสุวรรณ ผู้ช่วยรัฐมนตรีประจำกระทรวงการต่างประเทศ พบหารือกับนางคาทารีนา วีเซอร์ เอกอัครราชทูตสาธารณรัฐออสเตรียประจำประเทศไทย เพื่อแลกเปลี่ยนข้อคิดเห็นเกี่ยวกับประเด็นพหุภาคีและแนวทางส่งเสริมความร่วมมือระหว่างไทยกับออสเตรีย

ฝ่ายไทยแสดงความยินดีที่ออสเตรียได้รับเลือกตั้งเป็นสมาชิกไม่ถาวรคณะมนตรีความมั่นคงแห่งสหประชาชาติ (United Nations Security Council: UNSC) วาระปี ค.ศ. 2027 - 2028 โดยออสเตรียขอบคุณไทยที่สนับสนุนออสเตรียในการเลือกตั้งดังกล่าว และกล่าวถึงแนวทางที่ออสเตรียจะให้ความสำคัญระหว่างดำรงตำแหน่ง อาทิ การคุ้มครองพลเรือนในสถานการณ์ขัดกันทางอาวุธ การรักษาสันติภาพ และการรับมือกับภัยคุกคามที่เกิดจากจากเทคโนโลยีเกิดใหม่ ทั้งสองฝ่ายย้ำความสำคัญของระบบพหุภาคีและการประสานความร่วมมือในประเด็นที่มีความสนใจร่วมกัน และไทยกล่าวถึงการสมัครเข้าเป็นสมาชิกองค์การเพื่อความร่วมมือทางเศรษฐกิจและการพัฒนา (OECD) ของไทยด้วย

นอกจากนี้ ทั้งสองฝ่ายหารือเกี่ยวกับการส่งเสริมการค้าและการลงทุน ความคืบหน้าการเจรจาความตกลงการค้าเสรีไทย–สหภาพยุโรป แนวทางการเชื่อมโยงภาคธุรกิจ การส่งเสริมการเดินทางและการแลกเปลี่ยนระหว่างประชาชน ตลอดจนการรักษาพลวัตของการหารือระหว่างสองประเทศ เพื่อกระชับความสัมพันธ์ไทย–ออสเตรียให้แน่นแฟ้นยิ่งขึ้น

Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs meets with Ambassador of Austria to Thailand

On 22 September 2026, H.E. Mr. Sarun Charoensuwan, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, met with H.E. Mrs. Katharina Wieser, Ambassador of to Thailand, to exchange views on multilateral issues and ways to advance cooperation between Thailand and Austria.

Thailand congratulated Austria on its election as a Non-Permanent Member of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) for the 2027–2028 term, while Austria thanked Thailand for its support and shared Austria’s key priorities during its term, including the protection of civilians in armed conflict, peacekeeping and addressing challenges posed by emerging technologies. Both sides reaffirmed the importance of multilateralism and coordination on issues of mutual interest. The Thai side also updated Austria on Thailand’s accession process to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

In addition, both sides discussed the promotion of trade and investment, progress in the Thailand-EU Free Trade Agreement negotiations, ways to strengthen business links, and greater travel and people-to-people exchanges. They also underscored the importance of maintaining the momentum of dialogue between the two countries to further strengthen Thailand-Austria relations.
