การเข้าร่วมการประชุมประจำปีของคณะมนตรีมูลนิธิเอเชีย-ยุโรป
(Asia Europe Foundation: ASEF) ของมนตรีไทยประจำ ASEF คนใหม่

      เมื่อวันที่ 6-7 ก.ค. 2566 นางจุฬามณี ชาติสุวรรณ มนตรีฝ่ายไทยประจำมูลนิธิเอเชีย-ยุโรป (Asia-Europe Foundation: ASEF) ได้เข้าร่วมการประชุมประจำปีของ
คณะมนตรี ASEF ครั้งที่ 44 ที่นครบาร์เซโลนา ประเทศสเปน ร่วมกับมนตรีจากประเทศสมาชิกจำนวน 51 ประเทศ และ 2 องค์กรระหว่างประเทศจากภูมิภาคเอเชียและยุโรป
โดยการประชุมครั้งนี้มีความสำคัญเพราะที่ประชุมได้ร่วมกันหารือและรับรองแผนยุทธศาสตร์ 3 ปีของ ASEF เป็นครั้งแรก

      ในห้วงของการประชุมฯ นางจุฬามณีฯ ได้หารือทวิภาคีกับกับผู้ที่ดำรงตำแหน่งสำคัญในกรอบ ASEF ได้แก่ มนตรีฝ่ายสเปนในฐานะประธานการประชุมฯ มนตรีฝ่ายอินโดนีเซียในฐานะประธาน Finance and Audit Committee (FAC) และผู้อำนวยการบริหารของ ASEF ซึ่งนอกจากจะเป็นโอกาสในการแนะนำตัวแล้ว ยังได้แลกเปลี่ยน
ความเห็นในประเด็นสำคัญของ ASEF อาทิ การจัดทำแผนยุทธศาสตร์ฯ ความมั่นคงทางการเงินของ ASEF และการทาบทามนางนางจุฬามณีฯ ให้ดำรงตำแหน่งสำคัญใน ASEF

      ASEF เป็นองค์กรภายใต้กรอบการประชุมผู้นำเอเชีย-ยุโรป (Asia-Europe Meeting: ASEM) โดยมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อช่วยส่งเสริมความเข้าใจอันดีระหว่างภูมิภาคเอเชียกับภูมิภาคยุโรป ผ่านการจัดกิจกรรมใน 4 สาขาหลัก ได้แก่ (1) การแลกเปลี่ยนทางวัฒนธรรม (2) การแลกเปลี่ยนทางวิชาการ (3) การแลกเปลี่ยนระหว่างประชาชนสู่ประชาชน (4) การประชาสัมพันธ์ ASEM ทั้งนี้ คณะรัฐมนตรีอนุมัติการแต่งตั้งนางจุฬามณีฯ เป็นมนตรีฝ่ายไทยเมื่อวันที่ 13 มิ.ย. 2566 และนางจุฬามณีฯ ได้เข้าร่วมการประชุมนี้ในฐานะมนตรีฝ่ายไทยเป็นครั้งแรก

Newly Appointed Thai Governor for Asia-Europe Foundation joins 44th Board of Governors’ Meeting

      On 6-7 July 2023, Mrs. Chulamanee Chartsuwan, Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) Governor for Thailand, attended the 44^th ASEF Board of Governors’ Meeting (BoG) in Barcelona, Spain, together with representatives from 51 member countries and 2 international organizations from both Asia and Europe. This BoG was particularly important because it was the first BoG that discussed and endorsed an ASEF three-year strategic plan.

      During the Meeting, Mrs. Chulamanee had 3 bilateral meetings with the Spanish Governor who is currently the Chair of the Meeting, the Indonesian Governor who is the Chair of the Finance and Audit Committee (FAC), and the Executive Director of ASEF. These bilateral meetings provided the opportunity for Mrs. Chulamanee to introduce herself as the new Thai Governor, and to exchange views on important ASEF issues
such as the three-year strategic plan, ASEF's financial sustainability, and the proposal for Mrs. Chulamanee to consider taking up some key positions in ASEF.

      The Asia-Europe Foundation is a track-II organisation under the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) framework. ASEF’s aim is to promote better understanding between Asia and Europe through activities in four main areas: (1) cultural exchanges; (2) academic exchanges; (3) people-to-people exchanges; and (4) ASEM public relations. The Cabinet approved the appointment of Mrs. Chulamanee as the new Thai Governor for ASEF
on 13 June 2023, following which she attended the annual BoG Meeting for the first time as Thai Governor.
