เมื่อวันที่ ๑ เมษายน ๒๕๖๘ นายแอดการ์ เดอริก ผู้อำนวยการสำนักงานภูมิภาคเอเชีย-แปซิฟิก
องค์การระหว่างประเทศของกลุ่มประเทศที่ใช้ภาษาฝรั่งเศส (Organisation internationale de la Francophonie - OIF) ได้เข้าเยี่ยมคารวะและพบหารือกับนางครองขนิษฐ รักษ์เจริญ อธิบดีกรมยุโรป ในโอกาสเดินทางเยือนประเทศไทย เพื่อหารือเกี่ยวกับการส่งเสริมความร่วมมือที่เป็นรูปธรรมระหว่างกัน

    ในโอกาสนี้ นายเดอริกแสดงความยินดีที่อธิบดีกรมยุโรปได้รับการแต่งตั้งให้เป็น National Correspondent ของ OIF ประจำประเทศไทย และทั้งสองฝ่ายได้หารือเกี่ยวกับการดำเนินความร่วมมือ
ในหลากหลายมิติ โดยฝ่าย OIF ได้เสนอการริเริ่มความร่วมมือในโครงการฝึกอบรมภาษาฝรั่งเศสและล่ามภาษาฝรั่งเศสสำหรับนักการทูตและข้าราชการ ตลอดจนความร่วมมือเกี่ยวกับการสัมมนาเชิงปฏิบัติการด้านการท่องเที่ยวอย่างยั่งยืนในภูมิภาคเอเชีย-แปซิฟิก นอกจากนี้ ที่ประชุมได้หารือเกี่ยวกับความร่วมมือด้านการศึกษาและวิชาการ โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่งภายใต้กรอบของสำนักงานสถาบันอุดมศึกษาที่ใช้ภาษาฝรั่งเศส (Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie – AUF) ของ OIF ซึ่งปัจจุบันมีสถาบันการศึกษาไทย ๕ แห่ง ที่เป็นสมาชิกได้แก่ มหาวิทยาลัยนเรศวร มหาวิทยาลัยพะเยา มหาวิทยาลัยเกษตรศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยรังสิต และมหาวิทยาลัยธรรมศาสตร์ โดย AUF อยู่ระหว่างการผลักดันการขยายจำนวนสมาชิกในประเทศไทย

     อนึ่ง OIF มีประเทศสมาชิกทั้งหมด 93 ประเทศ โดยประเทศไทยมีสถานะเป็นผู้สังเกตการณ์ OIF ตั้งแต่ปี ๒๕๕๑ ซึ่งประเทศไทยใช้เวที OIF ในการขยายความร่วมมือกับกลุ่มประเทศที่หลากหลาย รวมถึงส่งเสริมการเรียนการสอนภาษาฝรั่งเศส และการแลกเปลี่ยนวัฒนธรรม

     On April 1, 2025, Mr. Edgar Doerig, Director of the Asia-Pacific Regional Office of
the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie (OIF), paid a courtesy call on
H.E. Mrs. Krongkanit Rakcharoen, Director-General of the Department of European Affairs, during his visit to Thailand, to discuss concrete cooperation between Thailand and the OIF.

     On this occasion, Mr. Doerig congratulated Director-General Krongkanit on her appointment as Thailand’s National Correspondent for the OIF. Both sides discussed the implementation of cooperation across various sectors, with the OIF proposing collaboration initiatives, including French language and interpretation training programmes for diplomats and government officials, as well as workshops and conferences on sustainable tourism in the Asia-Pacific region.

     Furthermore, the meeting touched upon academic cooperation, particularly within
the framework of the Agency of French-Speaking Universities (Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie – AUF), the OIF’s network of French-speaking universities. Currently, five Thai universities are AUF members, namely Naresuan University, Phayao University, Kasetsart University, Rangsit University, and Thammasat University. AUF is also working to expand its membership in Thailand.

     The OIF comprises 93 member states, with Thailand holding an observer status since 2008. Through the OIF platform, Thailand has been able to expand cooperation with a diverse range of countries, while promoting French language education and cultural exchanges for Thai citizens.
