เมื่อวันที่ 18 กันยายน 2569 คณะเจ้าหน้าที่กรมยุโรป กระทรวงการต่างประเทศ ได้จัดกิจกรรมเยือนทำเนียบเอกอัครราชทูตสาธารณรัฐฝรั่งเศสประจำประเทศไทย และกิจกรรมทัศนศึกษาชุมชนโดยรอบบริเวณริมแม่น้ำเจ้าพระยา เพื่อส่งเสริมความรู้ความเข้าใจเกี่ยวกับประวัติศาสตร์ความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างประเทศไทยกับยุโรป และการตั้งถิ่นฐานของชุมชนชาวยุโรปในกรุงเทพมหานคร

 

ในโอกาสดังกล่าว คณะเจ้าหน้าที่กรมยุโรป นำโดย น.ส. สมฤดี พู่พรอเนก อธิบดีกรมยุโรป ได้เข้าเยี่ยมชมทำเนียบเอกอัครราชทูตสาธารณรัฐฝรั่งเศสประจำประเทศไทย โดยคณะฯ ได้รับการต้อนรับจากนาย François Vandeville เอกอัครราชทูตสาธารณรัฐฝรั่งเศสประจำประเทศไทย ซึ่งสถานเอกอัครราชทูตฯ ได้จัดบรรยายพิเศษเกี่ยวกับความเป็นมาของสถานเอกอัครราชทูตฯ และถือเป็นหนึ่งในหลากหลายกิจกรรมของการร่วมเฉลิมฉลอง โอกาสครบรอบ 170 ปี แห่งการสถาปนาความสัมพันธ์ ทางการทูตไทย–ฝรั่งเศส ที่จัดขึ้นตลอดปี 2569 ด้วย

 

นอกจากนี้ คณะเจ้าหน้าที่กรมยุโรป ได้เยี่ยมชมและรับฟังบรรยายเกี่ยวกับการตั้งถิ่นฐานชุมชนชาวยุโรปในบริเวณใกล้เคียง อาทิ การเยี่ยมชมวัดซางตาครู้ส ซึ่งก่อตั้งโดยบาทหลวงชาวฝรั่งเศส Jacques Corre ร่วมกับชุมชนชาวโปรตุเกส พิพิธภัณฑ์บ้านกุฎีจีน โบสถ์กาลหว่าร์ (วัดแม่พระลูกประคำ) และเรือนพระยาวิสูตรสาครดิฐ ภายในบริเวณกรมเจ้าท่า ซึ่งเคยเป็นที่ทำงานของกัปตันจอห์น บุช ชาวอังกฤษ ผู้เป็นอธิบดีคนแรกของกรมเจ้าท่า เป็นต้น

ซึ่งเป็นผู้บรรยายให้ความรู้เกี่ยวกับประวัติศาสตร์ชุมชนชาวยุโรป และผู้ประสานงานในชุมชนที่เกี่ยวข้องทุกท่าน มา ณ ที่นี้

 

 

On 18 September 2026, the Department of European Affairs (DEA), Ministry of Foreign Affairs, organised a visit to the French Embassy in Thailand, and a study tour of communities along Chao Phraya River. The visit aimed to promote a deeper understanding of the history of relations between Thailand and Europe, as well as the settlement of European communities in the central part of Bangkok.

 

On this occasion, the delegation, led by Ms. Somrudee Poopornanake, Director-General of DEA, visited the Residence of France, where they were welcomed by Mr. François Vandeville, Ambassador of France to Thailand, and officials of the Embassy. The Embassy provided a special briefing on French diplomatic presence in Thailand. This visit formed part of the activities commemorating the 170th anniversary of the Thai-France diplomatic relations, which are being held throughout 2026.

 

In addition, the delegation visited several historical landmarks in the surrounding area, and received a briefing on the settlements of European communities in Bangkok. The programme include visits to Santa Cruz Church, established by Father Jacques Corre, a French missionary, together with the Portuguese community; Baan Kudichin Museum; Kalawar Church (Holy Rosary church); and Ruen Phraya Wisut Sakhondit, located within the Marine Department, which was the residence of Captain John Bush, a British sea captain who served as the first Director-General of the Marine Department.

 

The Department of European Affairs would like to express its sincere appreciation to the French Embassy in Thailand, Dr. Pralom Boonrasamee, Head of the Portuguese section, Faculty of Arts, Chulalongkorn University, Ms. Navinee Pongthai, Founder and Owner of Baan Kudi Chin Museum, for sharing their insights on the history of European communities in Thailand. The Department also extends its gratitude to all individuals involved in facilitating and supporting the programme.
